Strange Loots, also known as Mr. Strangeloots, is a Washington DC-born, Atlanta-based hip-hop artist with Nigerian heritage. He makes faith-driven, gospel-influenced rap music and runs a streetwear clothing brand of the same name.

Born in Washington DC with Nigerian blood in my veins, raised on scripture before I ever touched a microphone. Strange Loots is what happens when you let faith lead and refuse to separate who you are from what you make.

The music and the clothing come from the same place. A DC kid with Lagos in his lineage who landed in Atlanta with something to say and a God who said say it louder.

Behind the Name

Strange Loots returned to Lagos, Nigeria, wearing traditional Yoruba ceremonial dress — agbada, coral beads and a beaded crown — among family. The trip is the source of the photography in this section.
